Card Analysis, or “Wassat Do?”

This seems a good point to look at something that is vitally important to every game, but might as well be written in Swahili to your average rookie. That’s right, it’s the humble stat card, and we're going to spend a little bit of time looking at the front of the card to help the new player understand the role of a player. All of these can be downloaded direct from Steamforged Games here , or can be found in the various apps. One thing you need to make absolutely sure of is that you’re looking at the latest cards for Guild Ball season 3. A lot of players got a complete re-write from season 2 so older cards should be unceremoniously binned, trashed or whatever the local equivalent is. You can tell by the Roman numerals at the bottom right corner of the back of the card – I is season 1, II is season 2 and III is season 3. I’m sure you could have worked that out by yourself, o handy reader such as you are, but this is the planet that has voted for Brexit and Trump. It’s

Tooling Up

Right then. The first post with some actual useful Guild Ball content on it!  It seems appropriate at this point to look at the resources that are out there for beginners and what you really need to get started. They get cool shiny toys and encouragement for doing this so don’t feel in any way awkward about getting in touch!.  You can find the list of Pundits here , no matter where you are in the world! Scroll down to the bottom to find the lists. This was actually how I got my first games under my belt. I live near Northampton in

A New Thing Rises...

So welcome to this, the first post in Scoring for Fun, a new Guild Ball blog.  Love at first sight... Just a word of introduction. I’ve been playing games since I was 12, and started the well-trodden path with Warhammer 40K, lovingly throwing my Ork Speed Freeks across the table at people. I later made the step from round bases to square when Warhammer Fantasy 8th edition was a thing, and developed a fixation with Stonehorns. My latest stop was the Wyrd world of Malifaux where I’ve been for the last 3 years, having an enormous amount of fun and no small amount of success.  My Malifaux weapon of choice. I like redheads with blades... Guild Ball has been a game I was always aware of. My gaming group the Leicester Squigs were in on the Kickstarter and I played Brewers, but after a bad game against Engineers who knocked my entire team over turn after turn I rage quit season 1 in frustration.  Season 2 went a little better – Smoke and her Alchemists caught my eye and I pl
